Friday Randoms

Hello and a happy Friday to ya! Hallelujah for the weekend. This mama is exhausted and I can't wait for Shawn to be home tomorrow so I can take a nap. How sad is that- planning a nap for the next day (you know you're a mom when)....

Here's how Henry's nap is going so I better hustle.

Looking over the side for someone to play with

The Fair is in town!  I can't wait for a funnel cake and I'm secretly hoping Shawn will get a turkey leg because I refuse to walk around holding one of those things.

The new Mumford and Sons album came out this week. I'm obsessed!  Henry and I listened to it all morning.

I think we should toast to the beginning of Fall with one of these this weekend!

This sounds so good right now. But I don't even know if I like bourbon drinks... so I better make this, for the sake of research.

Someone pass the tissues because next week I will have a seven month old baby. Closer to a year old than a newborn.
Someone hold me.

So I've been planning Henry's six month photos for months. But the problem is that I never actually scheduled them. Looks like we'll be doing a seven month photo shoot instead. I'm waiting on some things to come in from Etsy so I can book a date.

Mama wants-
A new chambray shirt for fall. And sorry if it's what all the kids are doing, but I can't/won't wear denim on denim.
 J.Crew

Baby wants-
This precious "Riding Cardigan"
Ralph Lauren

Well that should do it. Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend!

Embrace the Camera 9.27.12, and a Note to Henry

Mr. Henry,

By the looks of your outfit, I'd say it's safe to say we're best friends? So may I speak freely?
Okay, thanks.

Dude. Please start sleeping though the night again. You know how to roll from your belly to your back. In fact, you've known for several months now. Why do you forget only when you're in your crib?
Mama is sleeeeeeepy. What do you say we leave the rolling to daytime for now? Is this all a big scam to get to the boobies at night? I promise they'll be waiting for you in the morning.
So think about it. Let me know.
The sooner the better.

Love,
Your sleep deprived Mama:)

Weekend Happenings

Happy Fall, everyone!  I don't know about you, but fall is my favorite and I'm so ready for more of this cooler weather! I have so many little DIY projects I can't wait to tackle. I may even make Henry's Halloween costume. But it's looking like I'd probably spend more by making instead of buying so we'll see. I'll keep you posted- I know you're all on the edge of your seats:)

Anyway, back to the weekend!

We had another lovely (maybe a little too busy) weekend.  PaPa came to town so we got to hang out with him a bunch. Saturday was the Art of BBQ. This year, the festival moved to the Blue Dome District in downtown Tulsa. It was a beautiful day to walk around.

I went for a much needed pedicure.

Then we put Henry down for bed and headed to a family dinner while Shawn babysat.

We had yummy food and we celebrated Kari's birthday!

Sunday we met for coffee, and walked around Utica Square while Shawn watched football.
Gorgeous weather again! Then lunch at La Madeleine.

After Henry went to bed, Shawn was still gone so I was able to do some reading. I'm working on these two right now. LOVING them!

Anyone watch the Emmy's last night? We were cracking up because we watch every show that was nominated for best drama. But Homeland was our absolute favorite- so happy they won!!! Can't wait for it to start back.

I guess that's it!  Hope you all have a great week!

A Rough Day

Today.  Was.  Rough
It started at around 4am when I woke up with a migraine, feeling the need to puke.
Then Henry woke up for the 3rd time that night(morning?).
Little man thinks he's a crawler and wakes up in the middle of the night on his belly trying to scoot around all confused. He usually needs to be calmed down/flipped over. And the monitor wakes me up regardless...

So we were both tired and cranky today from all the middle of the night partying and my lingering migraine. I took a nap and meds all day. Finally, late afternoon, after I drank a big Coke,  my headache was gone!  It was dinner time and we thought dining al fresco was just what the doctor ordered:)

Sorry they're all fuzzy IPhone self-portraits. This mama barely had energy for those!

Despite all my complaining I'm so thankful for today. Thankful for my headache- that I'm alive and healthy and a migraine is my biggest health concern. Thankful for access to medicine and a Coke any time I need it.  Thankful for waking up in the middle of the night- that I have a growing, developing little baby that's perfect in every way. And most of all, thankful I get to be his mama.

New Glasses!

So as I mentioned here, I ordered some new glasses online. Without trying them on. Like a crazy person.
I kept seeing friends on Facebook claiming their "free glasses offer" from Coastal.com.
I decided to grab one and check out their site.

I found some cute frames and decided, what the heck?! I entered my prescription info and went through the checkout and the offer was legit! I only had to pay shipping and handling.

I was tempted to upgrade my lenses, thinking they'd be super thick, but I'm cheap:) The frames I ordered were thick and covered my lenses just fine.

I ordered last Thursday evening and they arrived Tuesday morning!
They came with a great little case and repair/cleaning kit.

They are so fun and I'm loving them!  This post was not sponsored in any way- I was just really impressed with this company! I would definitely recommend ordering from Coastal!

Pumpkin Waffles with Spiced Whipped Cream

As promised, here is the waffle recipe I was raving about yesterday. These are so so yummy. I highly recommend you make these Saturday morning and stay in your PJ's all day with a good book.
Okay, maybe that's my dream.
But seriously, these are delicious. And your house will smell like Fall. Yes, please!

Pumpkin Waffles with Spiced Whipped Cream
 Ingredients:
Waffle Batter
2 ½ cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice
½ tsp salt
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 cups milk
4 eggs
¼ cup melted butter

Spiced Whipped Cream
1 pint whipping cream
¼ cup sugar
1 Tbsp pumpkin spice

Make the whipped cream first so you can eat the waffles when they're nice and hot.
Start by beating the whipping cream till it stiffens, a few minutes maybe.  Then beat in your sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Try not to eat several spoonfuls.
Store it in the fridge while you make the waffles.
*Just my husband and I were eating these so I halved the whipped cream measurements. It won't last for more than a day. But keep the measurements the same if you have more people for breakfast.

Now turn on your waffle iron and spray it well with cooking spray.
Then start on your waffle batter. Mix all the dry ingredients together first.
Then add in the wet ingredients.
It smells delicious already, right? :)

Now pour your batter, about 1/4 cup at a time.
This mix makes a huge stack of waffles.
But they freeze nicely so we made the whole batch. The batter should also be fine for a day or so, if you want to make it ahead of time.

Now load those babies up with butter, maple syrup, and your spiced whipped cream. We also sprinkled on chopped pecans.
Sooooo good!
Next you'll want to top off your coffee with some of the whipped cream. I may have had two extra cups of coffee because the stuff is so tasty!

Hope you enjoy!!!

Weekend Happenings

Another weekend has come and gone. Nice and relaxing,
just how we like it!

This little monkey has been waking up hungry around 5am. He'll quickly eat and go right back to sleep. Seven is wake-up time but he wanted to sleep in so we let him. Until 8:15 Saturday and 8:45 Sunday. Not a good move on our parts! That little stinker would not take his morning nap and was off schedule all day.
Thankfully he was still a happy camper:)

I made these pumpkin waffles and they were delicious. Like soooo good! I'll definitely post the recipe because you'll love them!!!

That afternoon we checked out the Rock 'N Rib Festival.
Good beer. Bad BBQ. Seriously not good at all. I can't remember where we ordered from but they had won tons of awards so we thought we'd be safe. Oh well, we enjoyed the cool temps and it was good to get out of the house!

As usual, Sunday was full of Football. Shawn lost in one of his fantasy leagues.
Sorry babe.  I'll give you some tips next week.  I'm working on some great names for my team next year:)

Shawn took a break and played some guitar for Henry. He loved it, especially when you sing along!

Henry wanted to put it in his mouth, naturally:)

Another great weekend- love my family!

Friday Randoms

Happy Friday! I can't wait for another fun weekend with my two favorite guys!

Don't judge, but I had the most delicious bowl of Fruit Loops for breakfast. Yes, I'm almost 30.
Using almond milk makes them better for you, right?

So excited for my new glasses to come in. I'm a crazy person and ordered them online without trying them on. Hoping they're big and nerdy looking. We shall see!

These temps are amazing. I probably need to wear boots and a scarf today...

Loving this little lion costume. I was set on Henry having a sweet little pumpkin costume from PB Kids as his first- cute and classic. But I saw the costume in person and was not impressed with the quality. I know, important life decisions:)

Think we'll be checking out this tomorrow,
hopefully with Ryan and Kari and sweet Mila!

Cool weather always makes me want to listen to Ray LaMontagne. This song feels like fall.

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Embrace the Camera 9.13.10

Henry and I were just playing in his room, all cozy inside on this rainy day, when he decided to make the biggest grossest diaper in all of history. Starting solids will keep you on your toes!
Just keepin' it real people.
After almost gagging he was all fresh and clean I decided to let him have some of his favorite- nakey time!
He just loves his bare bottom rolling all over the floor:) Silly boy!

Naked babies and rainy days. Good stuff:)

Henry is Six Months!

Henry Man, who gave you permission to turn six months? I know everyone says it, but geez louise, time flies!

I can not believe you have been out of my belly for six whole months. I secretly wish you were still in there sometimes so I could keep you all to myself. But I know you'd be a bit squished at twenty-one pounds:)
You are such a JOY, little baby. I am so so thankful God chose us to be your parents. You have developed quite the personality and are just such a happy guy. Everyone comments on what a great baby you are!

You laugh and smile all the time. You are so expressive with your little eyebrows and make the best faces. You are very observant and love watching and listening to people. You are pretty laid back, but when you have an opinion you definitely let us know :) I am so very grateful we get to spend our days together and miss you at night when you're in bed.
You are such a blessing.
I can't wait to see what kind of little person you'll grow into. But if you could just slow this growing up business a little,  Mama would really appreciate it... k?

At your six month checkup
Weight- 20.9lbs, 93rd percentile
Length-27.5inches, 87th percentile
Head Circumference- 17.75, 87th percentile

6mth check-up
6mth check-up
Teeth
Two bottom! They both came in the week you turned five months. You were your normal happy self during the day as they were coming in, but up almost every two hours at night. You have been playing with your tongue a lot more and making all kids of funny noises. No issues while nursing, thankfully:)

Sleep
We finally moved you to your own room last month and you just love your crib! You're starting to remember again that you're able to sleep though the night, no thanks to teething! Bedtime is usually 6:30 or 7:00pm and you either wake up once to nurse or sleep through the night. You take a morning and afternoon nap- usually an hour or two each, and then a short 30 minute nap late in the day,

Eat
You started solids! Currently you are eating breakfast and dinner in addition to your full-time nursing. I'll write a separate post on solids, but basically you're a champ-if people couldn't tell by your thighs:)

Move
Little monkey, you are rolling all over the place! You push up on your arms and try to scoot a little, but no crawling yet. And I'm hoping not for a while:) You love being in your jumper- we'll say "jump jump jump" and you smile really big and try to jump as hard as you can! You can sit up so well, almost completely by yourself.

Likes- Mama, Daddy, boobies, eating, bath time, putting everything in your mouth, books, people, music, laughing, catching a glimpse of TV, playing with Taylor & the boys, your crazy family, white noise and your lovey, naked time
Dislikes- getting dressed, being put in your car seat, bottles and pacifiers, not being allowed to chew on Mama's phone, waiting through a diaper change, sleeping in

We love you, Monkey! Thanks for being the best baby ever:)
